Elaine MacDonald - Skatepark Project commentary found at Bruce Wark's Website this month

"Elaine MacDonald says:

It’s cute that you think actual, honest concerns are “feels”.

Says a lot your focus on a skate park is more important than, well, everything really. At least you’re consistent.

But maybe someday the skate park will be a thing; might not be any kids interested in it anymore but at least it’ll be a thing."

Commentary found at warktimes.com comments section with local reporter Bruce Wark...

Yes Elaine,

we sure do hope it will be a THING.. no thanks to people like you who mock the decency of someone who has consistently advocated for this project through much censorship and abuse.

With special thanks, as always, to Bruce Phinney for your support and your efforts on this.

We read that Erica Butler has departed from CHMA FM Mount Allison University [ .. and according to local Fog Forest Gallery on Bridge Street owner Janet Crawford ] departing for some work with CBC?

Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to discuss sit down and promote this project with Erica despite reaching out to her in person on this .. I would have liked to have given her one of our buttons from "Global Breakthrough Energy Movement"

Funding for this project shouldn't be a problem with interested people connected to Mount Allison University who are experts at shaking the money tree.. how can we fail? More here:

"If you build it they will come" but Town of Tantramar management and staff are ALL actively avoiding / dismissing this youth skatepark venue project.. ask why? They have all the wrong priorities... and they do not represent the people. Who does?

Meanwhile, Mount Allison University grifts another big chunk of money free...a whopping $36Million!

Have asked Bruce Wark @ Wark Times numerous times to cover this new skatepark venue project at his local website but so far nothing from him at all.. and I read more negative commentary recently from old timer Les Hicks in town who thinks that this is a project that no one cares about -- read his words at the comments section of this article link:

Mayor wrong to limit debate on proposed Lafford building, former councillors say | (warktimes.com)

What Les Hicks is trying to say is that he himself doesn't care about this youth project and he imagines that he speaks for more people than himself.. but he does not... and he is again being his usual negative and argumentative and unproductive old self....  so I should not be surprised.

Of course the many active skateboarding youth here and potential visitors do care about this new concrete skatepark venue project BUT its just that they just have no one to speak up for them... no one willing to help them out here.  They already made their presentation back in the summer of 2013 and were completely ignored ... the local management hopes everyone will forget that fact but I don't... and neither do those youth and others including Pat Estabrooks, former mayor, whose grandson Ethan Sears was one of those youth presenting to mayor Bob Berry and town councillors in their fancy chambers in the new Town Hall Palace.  Former Sackville Mayor Pat Estabrooks has thanked me for making this project something to focus on.. and I have spoken with many youth at the park over the years who agree a much better park would be great.

Les Hicks is pictured below in his face diaper..

More here on the local news this week from CHMA Facebook [ Note: this project was brought to the attention of Erica Butler but she fails to report]:

I have left a number of comments at his website; and emailed him about the skatepark project. FYI.

Its difficult for me alone to promote and advocate the new concrete skatepark venue project when platform access continues to be limited ... ie. Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, Twitter, etc.. all suspended by the cancel culture mob.

Why are ponds such a priority in this town?

Why are ponds the ONLY priority?

Bruce Wark reports:

" The project will include access roads that will double as hiking trails similar to the ones around the first retention pond south of St. James Street.

The local firm, Beale and Inch, submitted the lowest bid of $5,608,519.62 while the three remaining ones were each above $7 million: Birch Hill Construction of Moncton, $7,322,098.88; Gulf Operators of Saint John, $7,514,371.15 and Dexter Construction of Bedford, N.S., $7,913,150.00 "

September 2022 Fireworks... Fall Fair...

More commentary on the project from Percy Best at this article [on more fireworks are in the budget for Winterfest 2023] from Bruce Wark:

https://warktimes.com/2023/02/02/tantramar-council-approves-winterfest-fireworks/comment-page-1/#comment-9476

"I am sure you are well aware that the whole area around where the current skate park was put in is just a covered marsh area. Core samples reveal that there is approximately a 22 cm layer of marsh mud, then 17 cm of brown clay, then, 18 cm of peat, and then 14 cm of very elastic type white clay. One cannot possibly build a concrete skate park on this very unstable subsoil.

A concrete skate park would probably cost in the vicinity of one million dollars. The fireworks display next weekend cost $2,000. So it would take around 500 years to offset the skatepark cost, and not 10 years. Where do you get your figures and calculations from anyway? And — can boys be ‘vivacious’ as well as the girls? It is just that I have never been been called vivacious, not even once, no matter how hard I tried in my younger days."

A new venue should be a priority and it doesn't need to cost $1million... it also shouldn't be located at the old skate park site.

Wark Times writes on the big money coming to the SERSC in 2023....

Its important to note that the money flows in one direction... away from the taxpayers and into the government trough... one way or another...

SERSC will be receiving millions of dollars.. yet we are told time and time again.. year in and year out how we have no money for projects such as a new, big, awesome concrete skatepark venue for the youth here .. why? #Tantramar Skate Park Project

No money for a great concrete skatepark venue?#not feeling the love in the Tantramshire .. yet

More on the windfall of cash flowing to the SERSC grabblers ...

@ this link from Bruce Wark:

New Town of Tantramar will pay for more regional services | (warktimes.com)

"The new Town of Tantramar is heading into a financially uncertain future with no way of predicting yet how taxes and municipal services may be affected.

But one thing is clear: The Southeast Regional Service Commission (SERSC), which currently provides land use planning and garbage disposal services to cities, towns and villages in Westmorland and Albert counties, is gearing up for a major expansion.

During her presentation to Sackville town council this week, Stephanie Thorne, the Commission’s chief financial officer, said SERSC has drafted a $26.2 million budget for next year — a 17% increase to help provide five additional services that the Town of Tantramar and other municipalities will pay for.

The services include regional transportation; regional social and community development; regional sport, recreation and cultural infrastructure; regional economic development and regional tourism."

Quarry Pond Project? New $750,000 Fire Truck? More Monuments? Why Are The Priorities Never For Youth Here?

"Quarry Pond project recommended to go forward, under budget, with local contractor"

Another big money pond project here instead of a skate park venue....... why?
How many ponds will be enough for these people/technocrats?
Who is setting these expensive priorities for the locals?

"The bid from Beale and Inch came in well below the budgeted amount for the project, as well as all other bids. While Beale and Inch say they can complete the project for $461,744, other companies bid $855,743 and $1.49 million on the same project."

Big spenders at the Town Hall Palace.....

More here at Bruce Wark's recent article [he is not publishing comments posted there, why?]
at Warktimes.com -:

Yes Carol you heard correctly.... $750,000 ... wow!

The town managers really seem to feel at this point that building more monuments, trails and ponds is their best strategy .. why?

Propaganda expert Erica Butler reports....

Twitter CHMA FM never cover the concrete skatepark venue project.. why?  CHMA (@chmaFM) / Twitter

CHMA FM always ask for money at their website but keep the comments section closed.. why?
CHMA - Home (facebook.com)  They don't need any money but they do need an unquestioning audience who believe their propaganda.

Talks of a Skate Park Collab with Rotary Guy John Murchie 2012

For the active local youth who require a venue for sport of choice:
Skateboarding!

Outgoing Mayor John Higham mentioned to local Alex Thomas earlier this year on a 'zoom call in' town hall meeting that he'd be interested in helping out with a new skatepark project -- John Higham never showed any interest in this project when asked by me during his time in power [2016-2021]... and oddly enough John Murchie and John Higham are both Rotary Club guys... as was former Mayor Bob Berry [2012 - 2016] perhaps this is just not a Rotarians' thing?  Town councillor Bill Evans is also a Rotary Club guy with zero interest in this project and plenty of time on his hands [retired from mta.ca].

Personally, I feel the Rotary Club is a cult... I avoid cults..

#WeAreTantramar!

People here do listen to John Murchie because of
his local and not-so-local connections...
and his wife Gemmy,
Mount Allison University art dept. gal..

.... how could this
great project come to its fruition...
if anyone knows
maybe Big John knows?

The
"community leaders" won't
act on the advice of me..
because I'm just a Mum..
Or as one town councillor put it to me
I've been described as a
"low class unimportant troublemaker"
by the local clique.. well, that's a pity..
and its an insult they seemed amused to
pass along to me...

From the where are they now files ... remember Rotary Club of Sackville John Murchie's run for Mayor of Sackville in 2012?

I do.  I wonder if he is still interested in the small time political life as he continues to maintain his Facebook fan page.  Would he still like to help this project along? "Tantramar Skate Park Project" is a great youth project and a tourism draw for the region.... its my absolute pleasure to continue to promote this as much as possible!

The very clique-y Sackville Rotary Club seems more preoccupied with helping to buy up lands for conservationists [UN Agenda 2030]

Sandra Snow, Mayor of Kentville, Nova Scotia, had time to discuss their great concrete skate park project with me on the phone not that long ago... but she also said its not a reason enough to run for political office [which is the only reason I would run for town councillor].  Sandra Snow is also a member of the Rotary Club in Kentville N.S.

Building a wonderful, new, super cool, concrete world-class skatepark would be great for our little town... and I do believe the impossible is possible ... John Murchie was -- talking teenagers back then and how the time flies by ... I don't care much for the local goofy politics nor small mind gossips in this town.. but I think the youth deserve a great skatepark... projects, not politics, eh?

"John Murchie for Mayor" Facebook page reads:

John Murchie for Mayor - Home | Facebook

There is always a surprise lurking. Tonight I was out trying to sell some more tickets for a Rotary fundraiser - our main one to raise money for a couple students from here to go somewhere and for a couple of students from somewhere to come here - when I was stopped by two non-voting community members who asked if I was running for Mayor. I agreed that I am, and they wanted to talk about the need for better skateboarding facilities in Sackville. We had a terrific discussion about what might be needed - they obviously much more knowing than I - and how it might come to be - me somewhat more knowing on this part. I don't like making promises, but I did promise them an advocate if elected. I should have also told them, an advocate now even if not elected. Who wouldn't be?"
I voted for John Murchie but he didn't win.
Julien put some effort in to this project 2013.
Bob Berry won the Mayor spot in 2012 and he ignored this skatepark project... unfortunately.

Have also chatted with local Bruce Wark at Warktimes.com about this project's importance.  Find Bruce on Facebook.

Bruce Wark, accredited journalist, is pictured on the right with Stephen Garvey on the left, leader of "National Citizens Alliance" a new, federal political party, a screen grab from youtube.

I promote positivity in this town... freely.
John's a guy with some arts/creatives connections.. I'm just shunned by most here.

As John Murchie lives in town to this day I wonder if his popularity would be useful for a concrete build or if its just a case of a likeable guy with no real desire to create / collaborate.  For some people local projects are not that interesting or worthwhile... its been my impression that 'art' people are a different breed altogether, especially those that are used to being funded by government grants.

Support from blogger "Sackville Uncensored"

Its not a real skatepark .. and I am sorry that people don’t understand the sport enough to know that .. especially Andrew Black .. a real skatepark would be used and enjoyed and perhaps have some sun shelter as Moncton does … its important to understand the blatant lack of regard for the project for a concrete skatepark goes back at least 30 years plus .. to Duncan – one of the guys behind the Frisbee Golf Park could fill Bruce Wark in on the details of his attempts in his youth to get a park .. and more recently Mark Iglioriote an avid skater, artist instructor, father and advocate for the youth — there was a few summers with skatepark supervisors hired and paid well to hang out with the youth there .. there was Ethan Sears – son of former Mayor Pat Estabrooks group that made a great presentation to town council and mayor in the summer of 2013 – they even had matching tshirts and showed enthusiasm for a REAL SKATEPARK BUILD but most have grown up and left town .. so its just got to be a project LED by an adult who lives here .. me .. mother of two teens who grew up skateboarding and longboarding in this town so I pushed the project as best I could despite being blocked by the Town on facebook since 2015 for asking a question… hence the “Sackville Uncensored” to push against censorship around here in a small town that prides itself of being “community minded” and “inclusive” I can assure that it is not a true description… https://sackvilleuncensored.blogspot.com/2019/04/skateparks-not-monuments-for-sackville.html
