Local Developer Acquires Another Downtown Property: 131 Main Street Purchased by John Lafford

Town Hall Complex cost over $14,000,000 and is another local example of wrong priorities in spending.... it was an unnecessary project but the Town of Sackville spends money like drunken sailors on projects they decide on... not us... our opinions are not required or wanted -- despite what they say.

Wealthy, local 'smart'growth-approved builder/developer John Lafford has acquired 131 Main Street, previously owned by the late Gordon Beal who passed away in 2021.

Lafford says he has plans to create a "boutique hotel for the visiting Mount Allison Alumni".. how nice for them.

CHMA FM's Erica Butler gave us his story here:

Lafford plans to 'meet or eliminate' housing need within two years » CHMA 106.9 FM (chmafm.com)

You'll recall that John Lafford also acquired 64 Main Street [old fire hall next to the library] with the efficient & ethically-challenged deeds of then Renaissance Sackville's Julia Feltham who used her impressive "skill set" to financially benefit John Lafford and his considerable property holdings...

Renaissance Sackville is a grifting organization in town that has no right to any money....but that doesn't stop them asking for it every year here.

Kookie Cutter business is now located in the old firehall owned by John Lafford.  Lafford owns the two Main Street properties now.. side by side... this would be a perfect location for the concrete skate park project but I'm sure he has it earmarked for more stack n pack commercial ground floor, apartments above housing, soviet block style uninspired living accommodation for the rental crowd here.

131 Main Street is a beautiful heritage building..

and the building now sits vacant, empty and unused for the time being and this is very unfortunate considering the 'housing crisis' and how we are told there exists in big demand for rental units in town... for more see Alice Cotton [shown in photo below]:
